Day 14: Lake of Bays “Spark House Red Ale”

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

This was bound to happen eventually. The hangover day.

Yesterday was more of a “Several Beers” kinda day, rather than an “A Beer” one. I woke up this morning feeling like the death was upon me. Headache, dry mouth, dizzy, groggy. My brain was a soft, mushy, useless thing – rattled every two seconds by what can only be described as a throbbing hammer *WOMP*. And I knew that at some point today I’d have to drink another beer.

Well, now it’s 3am. I’ve just finished work. Exhausted doesn’t even come close. The beer tonight is the “bed beer”. Because approximately 28 seconds after I finish drinking it, my head will hit the pillow and I’ll be sound asleep.

The brew I chose is the “Spark House Red Ale” from Lake of Bays Brewing Co. This beer is crisp and tasty, pretty straight-forward in profile. The aroma is all freshly baked biscuits with a bit of sweetness that reminds me of a sticky toffee pudding, but not so strong as to be cloying or overpowering.  The taste follows pretty much in line with the aroma, except I got some coffee flavour that I didn’t expect from the smell.  All-in-all, this is a great option for a beer if you want something that’s easy to drink, not too complex, but still has some flavour. I’ll get it again for sure.

Beer is done. Halleloo.
