Day 33: Barking Squirrel Lager

IMG_7744

The wonderful actor, John Lithgow, once said: “Time sneaks up on you like a windshield on a bug.”

Floating along, not entirely mindful or conscious and then SPLAT. Your time’s up. Life is short, y’all. And it doesn’t get longer as the days tick by. It goes faster and faster. Your parents warned you, so did mine. Zoooom.

Anyway, I love John Lithgow. He’s hilarious and so uniquely himself. I am watching an old interview of his on the Letterman show and am suddenly struck by how identical we are.  Look at this picture! My profile looks just like John Lithgow’s. I’m not sure what else to say about that.

Today’s beer is the Barking Squirrel Lager. It’s a bit deceiving, as this beer is actually more of an Amber or Red Lager. Either way, it’s a delicious and incredibly easy-drinking brew.  Light in body and with a clean, crisp finish – classic Lager characteristics – what sets this beer apart is it’s assertive malt profile. On my nose, I get some nice warm biscuits, maybe even something sweeter like a graham cracker pie crust. A bit of caramel or light toffee. And even a touch of spicy hops (veeerrry subtle). I am kind of worn-out this evening and clearly deliriously rambling about Lithgow. Barking Squirrel’s Lager is pretty much precisely the refreshing beer I want to enjoy before hitting bed. In 3….2….zzzzzzz
