Right.
Another beer in which I’m going in completely blind.
I have literally zero idea what anything on the label means; the only word I recognize is “Bier”, which isn’t much help. There is nothing to indicate the style of beer, insofar as it being a style which I’ve ever heard of, and the glass is pretty dark so I can’t even try and guess based on the colour of the brew.
I do see a photo of a lumberjack, for what that’s worth. He looks like he’s working quite hard and in a rather snowy place. So, perhaps this is some kind of refreshing dark lager.
… *pours into glass* …
Looks a bit like swamp water; you know, that thing that happens when you mix all the fountain pops together. The head is fluffy and off-white, but doesn’t stick around for very long. On the nose all I’m getting is bread. Baked, sweet, brown bread. And lots of it. There’s definitely a bit of milk-chocolate, as well. The flavour is all bready maltiness. Just tastes like I’m drinking a loaf of brown bread. There is a touch of roasted bitterness near the end, but it is fleeting. The body is surprisingly light and the finish is pretty crisp.
Not nearly as interesting a beer as I was hoping for, given the mystery of the label. Though, I suppose were I to be that lumberjack, hacking away at trees in the snow, I’d be rather thankful to get my hands on one of these beers.
