Went into the Beer Store today to pick up a single bottle of Fuller’s ESB, which I had a particularly hankering for and hadn’t yet written about on the blog. Alas, they were out of stock. The guy behind the cash said, “Oh! You should try Zywiec! It’s Polish, I think, and really great. You’ll love it!” I figure by the time 365 days is up I’ll have tried every beer available for purchase, so if someone makes a suggestion, my answer will always be “Yes!”
Mistake.
This beer is just bad. Sorry, Zywiec, I know you’ve been around since 1857, which makes you officially older than Canada, but respect for elders has it’s limits. Frankly, I can’t fathom how it’s possible that 158 years after your inception, you haven’t managed to become a great beer.
It’s just a yellow, watery, metallic-tasting, mess. Four sips in and I won’t be finishing the glass.
