About

My name is Edison Skinner.

I impulsively took on this project whilst under the influence of one or several beers and at the suggestion of a dear friend. “A beer a day for a year?! I can do that, no problem! I pretty much do it anyway, why not write about it!” Now that it’s begun, I can see how truly daunting a task it will be. Daunting, but all kinds of epic. If I can pull it off, I’ll celebrate with a scotch.

Who am I, you ask, to be writing about these beers? Well, I won’t pretend to be an absolute authority on the subject. But I do have a bit more to say than Mr Average Joe perched upon the barstool at the local pub.

My professional beer adventure began last summer when a friend and I embarked upon our own Odyssey of sorts – a project called “Hop Across Canada” where we traveled from coast-to-coast, visiting craft breweries and documenting it in our blog. We also filmed the whole thing with our elderly-yet-entirely-reliable camera and cut a sizzle reel that we’ve been using to pitch a Beer competition reality show we’re calling “Beer Wars”. I’m also in pre-production on a digital interview series called “Beers With…” which is super exciting and will hopefully fill many of these A Beer A Day posts.  Will keep you informed on these projects as they progress …

In addition to that, I’ve completed Level 2 of the Prud’Homme Beer Sommelier program, which makes me able to call myself a Certified Beer Specialist (which is something I’ve been calling myself for about 15 years, but now it’s on paper).

In general, I’m viewing this entire experience as a fun way to practice writing (something I haven’t done much since getting my Journalism degree about a decade ago) while giving myself an excuse to imbibe the delicious (and likely sometimes not so delicious) brews of the world.

Thanks for following and sharing!

Cheers~

Edison
